Dynamic Modeling and Control of BDFRG under Unbalanced Grid Conditions

The Brushless Doubly-Fed Reluctance Generator (BDFRG) is a potential alternative to the Doubly Fed Induction (DFIG) in wind power applications owing its reasonable cost, competitive performance, and high reliability. In comparison with (BDFIG), BDFRG more efficient easier control cage-less rotor. One of most preferable advantages over DFIG inherently better performance under unbalanced grid conditions. study conducted this paper showed that conventional vector results excessive oscillations primary active/reactive power, electromagnetic torque, primary/secondary currents case. order address such limitations, presented new strategy for operation BDFRG-based generation systems. A modified scheme was proposed capability positive negative sequences secondary independently, thus greatly reducing adverse implications supply. controller has been validated by simulations using 1.5 MW dynamical model built upon sequence equations. main benefits are quantified PI current design.
